Bio;

Daisuke Oshida was born in Tokyo, Japan, on July 30, 1978. The city which he would be closely connected with until his death on July 25, 2010.
Early on in his life he was diagnosed with a heart condition.
Even thou he had this condition he didn't let anything stop him from living his life the way he wanted it.

In his teens he became involved in the music scene as a drummer. He started his career as a drummer in La'Cheri, which later changed name to Fatima, though after the release of their first single Daisuke left Fatima.
Guesses say that he quit the band due to the fact that he was always 'shadowed' by the other members of the band.
He himself later explained "While you play drums your self-expression is limited. That's why I'm now a singer, to be able to express my feelings."

It is said that after he left Fatima, that he got into a depression, and it is said that it was Dir en grey's vocalist Kyo that helped him during that time and also suggested that he might try being a vocalist. Easily said he had all the conditions: great looks, an amazing voice, abilities in both tone quality and vocal range, he also hosted a very impressive stage presence.
Unfortunally I can say that it is not said if this is a true story entierly, but it is possible that some parts are true.
Either way he later tried out the vocalist profession and it was more than a succes.
And soon he was also to be entitled "Carisma Vocalist", and that is also by the name he is best known among the jrock fans around the world.

After a few months, somewhere around mid-1999, Daisuke, with bassist Masaya, formed the band in which he was the vocalist.
A band to be on of the first pioneers of Jrock in Europe.
The band was Kagerou.
Shortly after the formation with him and the bassist Masaya, Yuana, a friend of Fatima's vocalist, joined the band as their guitarist.
Kagerou first started out as any regular Visual Kei band, with flashy costumes and hair.
Even thou they started out like that, after a short time they established their own style.

When Daisuke became a vocalist, new opportunitues where opened for him.
He was able to express his feelings and emotions freely, tell people what he wanted to tell.
It was very important for him to tell people what he wanted. He once said how the lyrics he writes come from his heart, and reflects his experiences, his thoughts and his desires.
He never tried to hide his true feelings and by singing he did not only step into the role as a messenger for himself but he stepped into the role as a messenger for the whole band.
He choose the name Kagerou for his band because it simply corresponds to his own life. (Kagerou meaning Dayfly)
In an interview with JaME Daisuke said this; "Kagerou means ephemeral. Why ephemeral? Well, because the insect doesen't see that when it becomes and adult it only lives for twenty-four hours. Like the insect, we want the band to live every minute as intensly, as there is little time laid out for us. Even if a human life can last eighty or nintey years, we want to live each moment intensly. That's why we called the group 'Kagerou'."

After some time Kagerou started to part with the visual kei scene, thou not leaving it completly.
The performance did no longer stay within the strict lines of a Visual Kei performance, and even for Daisuke the change was showing.
His performance was to look more and more like just any regular rock performance.
He started to throw himself into the audience, jump and twist on stage, climbing on parts of the set. But not only this shows the change.
His vocal performance started to change, he started to growl, he started to scream like mad, whisper barely hearable words, sing as clear as anything, all this within just one single song.
This started to worry people, he started to look faint, could hardly stand in the end of a show, throwing himself out in the crowd even thou he does not have the energy to get back on stage without a horde of bodyguards and rodies pulling him from the grip of his fans.
But this caused him to get more admiration from people, more fans. People adored him.
But it was in those moments, when he threw himself into the rageing audience that he probably felt the most fulfilled.
That would also be one of the reasons why he refers to himself as a masochist.

Even though Kagerou performed over-seas many times, they didn't really bother to make themself sound more western. He got a tattoo of a demons face on his shoulder, similar of the masks/makeup used in the Noh theathre.
All in all Daisuke and Kagerou were always true to their own country and proud to be such.
Kagerou was often linked by fans to the angura kei movement, due to their very Japan-centric references in their lyrics.

When the news about Kagerou's disbandment in early 2007, many fans got angry, especially after the rumors that spread among tha Japanese fans, that it was financials that was the main cause for their split. It was said that they were 'finished' and had no future as Kagerou, even if hundreds of people came to their live performances.
But only a few months later Daisuke formed a new band together with Yukino, aie and Hibiki, a real super group made out of many well known and skilled musicians.
The band was named 'the Studs'.
It did not take them long to go to Europe, and they played their second live 2007 in Paris, France.
Unfortunately the studs didn't last long and only after two years they announced a break after both the drummer, Hibiki, and bassist, Yukino, left the band.
Daisuke who didn't want to give up on music just yet started a solo project in early 2010 called "Daisuke to Kuro no Inja tachi", translated "Daisuke and the Black Hermits".
With this project he released one single in June of the same year.
Their second single planned for July 21.

Unfortunaly Daisuke would not longer be part of this world when the release of the single took place.
Daisuke died in his Shibuya apartment on July 15, 2010, only 6 days before his second solo single would be released.
Before he died, it had been descided that there would be a solo album released sometime during the fall, a possible revival of the studs and in the following year concerts in europe and in the US.
We will most likely never know the true cause to his death, but it is rumored to be due to and overdose of sleeping pills in combination of alcohol.

Daisuke was loved by many, both friends and fans.
He always stayed close friends with the people he knew, some of them being Tatsurou from MUCC, Gara from Merry and Kyo from Dir en grey.
Kyo did not only serve as Kagerous mentor and producer, but was also one of his closest friends.
When Daisuke passed on July 15, Kyo was in concert and upon hearing about the news in his passing, Kyo burts into tears on stage and dedicated a song to Daisuke.
He also wrote a very personal and emotional entry on his blog, speaking about some memories of Daisuke and trying to handle the loss.

It is still to early to handle the loss in a good way, he has left a great hole in the hearts of his fans, friends and family.
Daisuke was never afraid of death and I guess he was more of less prepared for it.
